Sophie van Dam

Relationship: Graduate, Young Alumni Advisory Board member

Sophie completed a Bachelor in Science (Health Promotion) at Curtin University in 2018. Throughout her studies, Sophie was the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the LEAP Leadership Program Scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles and Marketing Team of the Year Award during her position as a Curtin Student Ambassador.

Upon graduating, Sophie received a Health Promotion Scholarship, funded by Healthway WA, and took up a Project Officer position at the Western Australian School Canteen Association Inc. (WASCA). The project investigated factors that influence schools’ compliance with the Department of Education’s Healthy Food and Drink policy across Western Australia. Outside of work and studies, Sophie is passionate about creating supportive social and built environments. Among other involvements, she is an active committee member for the Public Health Association of Australian (PHAA) (WA Branch) where she undertakes capacity building, advocacy and policy development activities. Sophie looks forward to the continued opportunity to both learn from and contribute to the professional development of young Curtin University alumni.
