Belinda Cuomo is truly grateful to be a recipient of the Soroptimist Riverside Bursary scholarship.
“Since becoming an occupational therapist I have had the privilege of working with young children, their families and teachers to help them understand why some children might be having difficulties and how we can work together to support them in overcoming these difficulties. Seeing a child grow in confidence as a result of that support is so rewarding.
I am currently undertaking a PhD at Curtin, looking at how we can better support families in the process of identifying and acting on concerns with their child’s development. My greatest achievement so far has been receiving a first class honours degree, achieving top marks for two research papers – one of which is now published in an international journal.
I am so grateful to the people and organisations who make the incredible decision to support students like me – thank you. Your generosity truly makes dreams come true.”
